Undisciplined cursor...

  Since I had my IT upgrade I am plagued by undisciplined cursor....It won't do what I tell it to do....
  
  I move it and it dives off elsewhere on my screen. Once or twice I have clicked without realising it and the wrong thing happens!!!
  
  It is maddening.
  
  I have gone into the Control Panel and made sure all the options are off, I have slowed it down and cannot find anything else to change. Yet it still happens.
  
  This stupid Windows 7 machine seems to have a mind of its own.
  
  Anyone any ideas how to cure this......

  barry,ive got windows 7 and have no problems with the curser at all.or anything else to do with windows 7.

  Brian - look at Tom's link, it is a common Win7 problem. Lucky you for not having it.

  quite a diverse spread of experiences, now and then my cursor jumps back to the beginning of a paragraph or sentence.
  
  i normally spot it after typing for about 30 seconds -irritating but not as serious to the extent that barry speaks of.

  No, optical Alan. It just jumped then when I was trying to click in the dialogue box, nearly clicked to exit the browser instead...
