Had an appointment at Buckland earlier arriving about 40 minutes early. Other than me there was one other person in the Out Patients section. By the time I got called nobody other than staff had entered or left the department and when led to the consulting room I passed a dozen or more consulting rooms that were empty. On the way in an d out the lady who takes blood tests was standing at the door looking bored.
There seems to be more services judging by new signs up but I wonder if enough people know about them.

Wrong location, poor public transport and deep resentment from people in its 'catchment' area which have seen their local services moved there.

The bus service runs every 20 minutes I just missed one coming out so walked back to the town centre meaning location is not really a problem - not sure what the catchment area is exactly.

I think it might depend on the day or even time of day. I went for a blood test and while back and couldn't get parked anywhere near. Went back at 9 a.m. a couple of days later and got straight in for the test.

Always been a problem with parking along there, enough residents with cars without patients trying to avoid paying to avoid the hospital parking fee.

Surely people from Sandwich would go the state of the art QEQM in Margate, Deal hospital has not lost any of its services since Buckland opened.

The business case for Dover hospital could only ever be viable if OPD services were transferred from Deal which are also used by Sandwich residents. So I guess you have answered your own question Howard as to why it is under utilised.

Not actually true Jack our MP saved all the services at Deal hospital and added more, must be true he said so himself. Incidentally I was offered an appointment in Deal prior to the one I took up in Dover today.

If our MP says so then it must be true. I'm surprised Jack doesn't believe him

Same situation this morning went straight in on arrival for a blood test and there was just one person in out patients, doesn't seem to be any shortage of staff though. The people at the top should have moved more services there by now.

The services that have been moved there are not being used. Wrong location and poor public transport.

An excellent location for those who live in Dover. What services have been moved there and from where?

Very difficult to find out the website is very confusing there was a phone number for Audiology there but after leaving a few messages I was told to ring the William Harvey who then booked me an appointment at Buckland!!
A while back I was given an appointment at Margate for an Ultra Sound scan, I said it was too far was there anything nearer? The reply came back "we can do it at Buckland next week, is that any good?"

Hardly surprising this tale of woe. As musicians know most blues songs are written in A & E.

Hmmmmm. A minor joke, Capt; however, it made the forum B flat thereafter.
