But Vic, we didn't join the Eu until 1970 or thereabouts so that's 22 years of your timeline where there was no EU affect. In fact, we invited Caribbean and third world workers here to help make-up the shortfall caused by the war losses.
Then we had the troubles in Uganda, Kenya and Rhodesia, all adding to the influx of foreign, but Commonwealth, workers.
So, at the end of the day, the real problem of uncontrolled immigration was caused by the New Labour/Labour Governments of 1997-2010.
That being said I agree we need to tighten our borders, repatriate soonest those being held and set minimalist and tight quotas for future entrants. Leaving the EU won't be the answer in my view.
