Here's some maths, Howard:
Tories' 29% and UKIP's 14% = 43%.
Labour stands at 39%.
The first past the post system could obliterate opposition to Labour even where the reds have only 25-30% of the vote.
But a combined 43% could see an overall majority in Parliament.
The birds are singing from the trees the Dave's stance must necessarily mean an imminent change in Tory leadership, as the blues are flocking over to UKIP. Dave and Osborne seem to be a cork in a very fermented blue bottle.
If it blows, those two won't make it to 2015 as leaders, the war will be over for them!
I forecast a Tory rebellion in Parliament any time soon, possibly with the party whips going over to the rebellion.
