    To try and answer Andy's "so what"

    ...if you look at the headline at the top of this thread which makes the claim that UKIP are the nations second party, then the "protest party" rumblings become relevent. UKIP currently are showing keenness for wider aspiration and many supporters believe or indeed hope that they can deliver more than just protest. You only have to look at this thread to see that, or indeed listen to Nigel Farage...who continually promises more. They have revelled lately in finishing second twice in recent by-elections. It could be a beginning...but too early to make broader claims, until they deliver the same at the next general election (with the emphasis there on general election).

    With the LIbdem vote expected to capitulate at the next general election...it must be the opportune time then for UKIP to deliver. If they cant do it then...well..
    but will be interesting to see how it goes.
