Every vote is a protest vote to one degree or the other. Conversely when to a large extent the old school lose out to a party with a radical mandate - why should votes cast for them be deemed a protest? Perhaps folks just think it would be a good idea to vote for them!
Therefore, how can the statement that UKIP's/Green's recent successes are only down to a protest vote be valid?
This appears to me to just be a big fat excuse made by the 'mainstream' parties for their institutionalised failings.
