This looks like a bit of a hip-hop hopscotch polka. Three steps forward one day, two steps back the next. Cameron obviously has had criticism from within his own party re the remarks he made on television the other day which seemed to endorse Boris. He went full frontal for the banana skin and it obviously tripped him up. See my earlier post ( # 16).
Now clearly backtracking, Cameron is just striking a neutral platform here to ward off the internal critics.
In the article reproduced there by Howard, Cameron speaks of lots of other guys within the conservative party ranks who are real prospective leaders, but names no one.
But who is there.. Jeremy Hunt?? heavens no, a further banana skin waiting to happen. Philip Hammond Defence Secretary..no, earnest but no charisma. William Hague..no, bin there dun that!
In football terms they are short of a striker bigtime!
PS: did anyone see the quick shot of Cameron and Boris boogying to the music at one point last night during the Olympics shindig. Very painful to watch...like when you try to be hip at your daughters birthday party with all the wriggling booty boogy moves while she cringes in the corner of the room. Ouch!
