  And then again, Barry, I have had much the same experience as Dave. I was seen by a vascular consultant within 24 hours of a very worried Doctor ringing me following receipt of some X-rays on a foot; I could have had surgery within a further three days if I had wanted it, but I am going on holiday and needed my feet functional!
  
  The NHS are superb when they want to be. Unlike the dark days of the past the staff are conscious of needing to be seen to be good - and they are very very good. Like the teaching sector, the NHS would be far better if it weren't used as a political football by politicians who only make things worse.
