From Sky News:
"Rating agency Moody's has stripped Britain of its top-grade AAA credit rating, citing slow growth and a rising debt burden."
Britain now has rating AA1.
Not only!
"The ratings agency also cut the Bank of England's AAA rating by one notch, also to AA1.".
"He (Osborne) has used maintaining the top credit rating for government bonds as one of the key arguments for the Government's austerity programme."
However, somewhat like the Fuehrer in his bunker as Russian tanks rumbled above it and the rubble was falling from the ceiling, and the lights were going out and on again with each thunderous crash of artillery, Osborne retorted with a solemn promise of Final Victory:
"We are not going to run away from our problems, we are going to overcome them."
(The roar of the mouse).
And in a dire warning to anyone thinking of making a dash under the Spree to quick-exit the City and escape the overwhelming foes:
"We have a stark reminder of the debt problems facing our country...and the clearest possible warning to anyone who thinks we can run away from dealing with those problems."
(Did you hear a chicken fart?).
So make no mistake, there is no running away, we will SIEG, and Armies will march from East and West and wipe all fiend (Feind) from our doorstep, straaljaeger (Messerschmitt Me 262) will arrive from North and South and take every adversity (The Deficit) in a pincer-grip.
We will follow you, oh Chancellor, to the very edge, and over it, and wherever you take us, we will go with you...to the bitter end.
(A more sober version is on America's Uncle Sam edition: UK declares Chapter 7, but Osborne holds on to the last...yeah right!)
