I can't fully recollect the quote from Bill Bryson but, in his book on Science, he wrote that the intelligence, the technology and the skills that would be required to get life from the far distances of the universe to Earth over periods of light years are so unimaginable that to believe that alien life forms would come all this way to make circles in the corn in Wiltshire or Wyoming is beyond a joke.
He wrote it better than this but you get the gist!
