Govt needs to think again about plan to sell Dover port. Local ppl don't want it sold off and it is against UK long term interests

i read that he had been told to assert himself more, probably a good issue to get involved with.
the port is of interest to the general public, not just dover.

the fightback has begun

Wishful thinking from you Keith.
what I find amusing is that you refer to a Labour 'fightback' having begun.
That says it all for a Party over a year into opposition against a government being forced into some very difficult decisions.... To say they are having to have a fightback shows just how poorly MilliMinor in doing.

I feel that Ed has had precious little impact - on his party or the country - and seems desperate to find that 'big issue' to ignite his leadership. I think you are right and the likelihood is that the ConDems will self destruct before Ed scores against them.
The idea of Ed scoring anything is risible. Listening to him is like hearing a tiny stream in the distance - not immediately relevant to those present but sufficient to provide a gentle distraction without threat.

Get the feeling Ed is growing into the job, rather that than come in all guns blazing and no substance to back it up.

More like the job is shrinking into Ed.......

i don't see ed as a long term leader, it is just a case of whether the party has anyone better.
alan johnson would be the natural choice if he wanted it, but doesn't.
besides ed's brother i can only think of john cruddas being a figure that the electorate would go with.

Latest Ipsos-Mori poll on net satisfaction with party leaders - Milliband -14, Clegg -26, Cameron -2
The publication of the book about Ed didn't help him -
Neither does his public appearance - I keep thinking he looks like a 6th former who'll turn out OK once he gets out into the world and gets a job. That's not meant as an insult, it's a comment on a problem he is seen to have in connecting with the public.

RAY/BARRYW
I'm happy to be critical of the labour party/and ed
but in the real world as ray says, the con/lib pact will probably be the onre to bring the govt down.
together with the rising popularity of ed.
I agree ed got off to a slow start, but hes getting threre now, and we now see cameron becoming themost hated man(after clegg)
the honeymoon period for cameron is over, we have now seen the real face of the conservative party, ruling from the top, if you disagree you have no future.
so much for barryw and rogers previous postings on the open conservative party

Sad to see the recovery has been choked off in 6 months since VAT rise. Our plan would put jobs first & tackle the deficit.

Keith - you certainly have a very wild imagination.
Silly tweets seem to be all Milliminor is capable of.

there are few more cringeworthy moments than watching a politician try to come across as one of the chaps.
trouble is that they do not have people around them to tell them how silly they look on "the one show" or some day time magazine programme.
