Spot on Peter BUT perhaps it would be more helpful if the EU, rather than worrying about whether Google, Facebook, Twitter, Uber, Apple, Microsoft et al are becoming too powerful, should instead ask, why due to lack of investment in R&D,Science,Engineering etc, firms with 'killer applications' are not being developed in Europe.

With the usual exception of Oxbridge and Imperial I don't see many European Universities in there in spite of the fact the we've thrown shed loads of money for half the population to study Forensic Science with Golf Course Studies at the University of Bournemouth.
