    COUNCIL HOUSING;
    Over the years we saw Mrs T decide that the way to win votes was to allow people to buy there council houses, this was nice for those able to do so at knock down prices.

    But even then some got into debt unable to afford the mortgages.

    The part I agree with Alexander on(see I do agree sometimes lol) is that those council houses sold should have been replaced.

    What happened instead is that councils sold off the best houses and got left with those that no one wanted to buy,
    and also a nightmare housing waiting list, because of the shortage of council houses.

    Of course the tightening of council budgets due to getting less and less dosh from central govt didn't help matters

    Where I agree with barryw would be that we should make decisions as local as possible, and LESS interference from central govt.
