    As reported in the Dover Express on the 15th of September 1944.
    The funeral took place at St Margaret.s Parish Churchyard on the 12th of September 1944. As a local man ,he is remembered with honour on our war memorial in the church.
    Henry Richard Matcham of 4 Wellesley Terrace at his Funeral were Mrs C Matcham(Widow),Richard and Ronald Matcham(sons)Mrs V Luker (Daughter,)Mr W Matcham,Mrs G Matcham,and Mrs Goodburn(Sister ,s in law) MRS Smith,(Sister) Mr W
    Matcham,Mr G Matcham, and Mr A Matcham. (Brothers) Mrs Carey,Mrs Mould, Mrs Cox, CPO Blackmore ,and leading Seaman Higgs representing ship,s company of H.M.S,--------(Ships name withheld due to wartime reporting restrictions.) My self and my Brother was not there the family said we was to young.
    There are still parts of his wartime years missing .
