It is not about being snobbish (I have been working class all my life and worked on Trucks and buses all of that time earning my living) Artic's once in River have no where to turn without causing problems and if you know River you would understand that. Should a Trucker manage to work his/her way around River, then signs now put up take them past Crabble Corn Mill,. a mill built 200 years ago and not built to withstand 32 ton lorries going by. A good number of you go on about the River Dour, well once a Mill wall gives way (some also 200 year old) there will only be one way for the river to go and that certainly will not be down past Morrisons.
Of course Aycliffe has big problems which came when they built the A20 and I can sympathise with them but having a dig at another area because they have a similar argument is not going to help their cause. Does a lorry hitting more cars in Aycliffe than what one did in River make it right, I think not Brian.
Why when anything comes up about River people start on about being snobs is beyond me, River has problems as well and has the right to shout about them and Sue Nicholas is the elected District Councillor and doing what she should do. I agree with Jan why where the lay-bys closed when all they had to do was the use the money that it cost to close them and put in rubbish bins and facilities for the truckers..
