Trees to come down?

  I heard this morning that the 3 trees at the top of the subway in Bench street will be coming down. Apparently, a few objection`s have been raised against it. Anyone got any other info` on that?
  Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

  Dont have any info on that particular instance Colin but I also noticed that the trees have been cut down on Maison Dieu at the corner with Castle St...in the grounds of the dreary garage somebody appears to be renovating. Sheltered under them to get out of the rain quite a few times. But apart from their convenience as a rain shelter, its a horrific shame to lose trees without a very good reason. The trees there were very attractive. Why take them away..we've got to keep trees wherever possible as they add greatly to the urban quality of life. Without them we are left with concrete and nothing but concrete.

  full marks for a great sense of humour brian.
  
  we lost all those trees around the railway station, never found out why.
  
  a lot easier to destroy something than create something.

  If the tree cutting at Dover Priory station are anything to go by Brian, another 2 year`s should see some positive work starting on ditz. And, yes PaulB, we do need to retain what tree`s we have, but then, other`s may see them as an expense to look after perhaps? What would look nice in the Market Square area would be some more of those Gateway flats/Walmer sea front trees and flowers.

  It would be a shame to lose the trees at the head of Bench Street, they give a sense of parisienne charm to an otherwise drab eyesore that meets locals and tourists alike as they enter the town via Le Subway. I'd like to know which eejits raised an objection to this semblance of Monmarte's artistic quarter
