pretty nasty on the a20 this morning, trucks nose to tail from aycliffe to the docks.
best to avoid if possible.
Thanks Howard - is that because of weather affecting sailings?

not sure of the reason bern, i saw it at about 10.30 am there was no notification of delayed sailings until 2 p.m and that was only from dfds.
i assumed it was foreign truckers making sure they got home before christmas.
Foreign truckers......I hope you said that before the Christmas sherry kicked in!

Still long lines of trucks, some tempers are getting frayed..horns going like blinko at this very moment. Somebody may have cut in....oh dear!
Im not sure of the reason for the delay either...the two shipping lines appear to be going flat out. There are periods of time when there are no ships in the dock at all...this is a new phenomenon since the demise of Seafrance from the schedule.
No ship in harbour and long line of trucks does not a happy situation make

The big getaway, all the Eastern Europeans going home for Christmas (well not all of them) hundreds of student coaches going skiing, schools breaking up and Freight getting their pre Christmas journeys in, the Docks were heaving throughout the night last night with no let up in the traffic. Perhaps the first time Seafrance not being there has had a real impact.

so p&o have the soul management of the dover/calias route, yet the formentiond company where shouting from the roof tops about seafrances goverment backing.therefore i hope that the company will be brought out and start plying trade between the two ports to give p&o competion.
i personly found seafrance more passenger friendly than p&o,all 3 ships where comfortable to travel on,evan in bad wheather.
