Trading Standards Alert
- 15 February 2012 13:23153644I had someone wearing a hi-viz jacket with Surveyor on front and back but no other id knock on my door in Lydden on Monday, saying they were in the area checking that everyone had their government grants for home insulation - he didn't get the chance to stay long.
At our parish council meeting yesterday our clerk said she had someone making similar claims knock on her door yesterday just after she had downloaded an alert from trading standards saying these people had been in the Hildenborough area trying to get homeowners to pay for unnecessary surveys.
She has reported this activity to trading standards but it isn't on their website yet http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/kent/index.htm but be aware if anyone knocks on your door, ask for id first. - 15 February 2012 17:26153678thanks for drawing our attention to that ray, we should always look at the photo id of any caller.

The Office of National Statistics is warning consumers about an email allegedly from national statistician Jill Matheson. The email is titled 'Population Census: A Message to Everyone - Act Now'.
This email demands individuals provide further personal information, supposedly for the census and threatens fines for non-compliance.
This is a scam. It has no connection with the national statistician or the Office of National Statistics.
The email may download malware on to your computer if you click onto the link it contains. This could put your financial and personal information at risk.
The Office of National Statistics takes the protection of personal census information extremely seriously. Collection of census data was completed last year and no further requests will be made from the Office for National Statistics relating to the 2011 Census.
Anyone receiving this, or similar emails, should delete them, not open any links and certainly not provide any information.
Suspicious emails can be reported to Action Fraud, .........-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
