    I do have some sympathy for David; It is the kind of behaviour that can stem from childhood and not being very popular at school, this leads to some degree of bullying.
    It's a common trait in people with this background to assert there authority and dominance over others, effectively taking on the role of the bully.
    It is low on the mental health spectrum and it is common, the danger of it is that it can escalate into more damaging behaviours effectively an attempt to retain control.

    So have some some understanding and sympathy for David as he does fit the profile.
    I would personally recommend a professional referral for accurate diagnosis.
