  Incidentally, numerous tanneries in India and Bangladesh are known to dump their chemical waste where it shouldn't go and couldn't be dumped if complying with British Law or Western laws in general.
  It contributes to making their products cheaper.
  
  Combined with low wages, it might all explain why so much is conveniently imported from there, and that may not necessarily speak out in favour of the present tendency to import everything from these countries.
