You don't pay twice for the same thing Keith, what that means is that other services at the same level they currently are, can be offered. There may not be a reduction in the total cost of Council Tax, but services are being maintained, so you are not being double-rated for the same service.

There are incredible short-falls on monies received by local authorities all over the country, we are no different - maybe Northern Local Authorities are receiving less of a short-fall, but the tradition of funding Northern Local Autrhiotities over Southern ones, hasn't changed with a change of Government.

Howard, I agree that there isn't long to get things changed in the Town Centre, especially as regards the buildings that are in need of refurbishment.

I know I've said this before, but I had started this process when at Dover Chamber of Commerce - buildings requiring work, whether redecorating, new windows or complete refurbishment, were listed and photographed and ready to be written to - I had actually written to the owners of the Best Kebab building, but was dismissed before I got a reply and as an individual, couldn't follow it up.

If fingers aren't pulled out very soon, the Town's buildings will be the same as they are now.

It seems the Chambers of Commerce (Dover and Channel) have now no interest in Dover Town's welfare - they are in member's subscriptions, but not in the welfare of the Town itself.
The salary of the Business Support Manager should be funded by the 3 main stake-holders and the membership fees put towards further improvements.

    Roger
