My issues with councils & councillors with Market Square and most of their other schemes are

    1. The generally p**s poor consultation that they carry out. Too often it resembles a primary school class show and tell rather than an exercise to garner the views (reasonable or otherwise) of the locals. Even when they do ask for views, it is often at very short notice and mostly they ignore them.

2, The overly rigid/tight interpretation of government funding rules, their own procurement process etc. which generally means bids are poor, local expertise is ignored or not even contacted/contracted, over use of a small pool of overpriced & often complacent consultancies, an almost pathalogical risk averse approach to pretty much everything & post covid a reversion to the "nanny knows best" 1950's school of local authority interaction with the community.

    3. A lack of any form of holistic vision for the future of Dover, especially the main shopping areas.
