Sounds like not much has changed since I was last there in the 80s for a match at Anfield. Stopped off to get some cigarettes and this shop with boarded up windows only sold them in packets of five and groceries were spread around sparsely on the shelves. We then went into a pub and the place fell silent and everyone stared at us like it was a bar in the old wild west. Next stop was a pub in the Old Swan area of the city, seemed relatively ok, had a sip of my pint put it down and never saw it again!! Tommy Cooper would have been proud of it.

Poverty in Liverpool was a national issue at the time so it seemed natural for our supporters to wave ten pound notes in the direction of where the home fans were.
