    Re Terry's mention of Ann and Pam's florists, I came to the conclusion some years ago that the engraving below depicts the view from that location. It shows the view across Barton Farm towards the Castle c.1870. Barton Junior School now occupies the flat area encircled by cows in the centre of the picture, with the farmhouse beyond standing on what is now Charlton Avenue. Cherry Tree Avenue now bridges the river and has superseded the boat tied up against the riverbank steps for use as a ferry. Might be wrong but that is my guess with a bit of help from the superlative website below.
