The postal service is a national disgrace. One delivery a day if you are lucky and none when the weather gets a bit iffy. The postman are allowed to dress worse than tramps, and before any postman gets on his high horse let me say I speak from experience. I was a postman in Canterbury 1963-1972
    number 121.
Yes there were 2 regular deliveries a day and three in the business areas of towns. No first delivery finished later than 10.30 AM and second deliveries no later than 1300 hrs rural areas had a delivery same time as the towns in the morning and an afternoon delivery. It is not till one stops to analyze the post office services that one can fully appreciate just how bad they really are. unfortunately I can see no prospect of any improvment in the near or far distant future.
This is an experiance that I had
In april I posted a package to America, needless to say it did not arrive. When I claimed in May I received a letter telling me that it would take three months to investigate. In june I received another letter telling me that they (the American postal services) were unable to deliver my packet and that it would take (you've guessed it) three months to return it to me .
I heard nothing until the end of October when I asked what was happenning. Guess what?? another letter telling me that it would take three months to return my package.
I wrote back telling the post office that the slowest atlantic convoy took 17 days to cross the atlantic despite the U boats and yet in the twenty first century my package was going to take 84 days. needless to say I never saw my package again and I also had to threaten to sue through the small claims court for my insurance money which eventually arrived in November.
So if any one thinks there is any chance of the Post Office getting its act together forget it.
