David asked me to post this as he is rather busy at the moment, This year the same as previous years David would like a hand to put up some flags along Castle Street.
I usualy take it all on board but this year I cannot do it as I'm waiting to go into hospital for an op, ladders and things are a no go at the mo.
If you could give a hand please e-mail David or give me a call on 07707077390 and I'll give you his number.
Many thanks.

Brush wood, silence.
Looks like Castle street will be flagless this year, first in a long time.

Sorry Ian, there does seem to be distinct lack of support from volunteers on here doesn't there ? What about the residents and businesses along Castle Street - can't they help ? it's in their interest ?
Good Luck with your operation Ian.

Ian
can you give an idea of dates? There's no chance of me doing anything this weekend but I may be able to later.

It was planned for this saturday Mark but if you call or e-mail David he may alter it.
Thanks Roger. I think most of the owners down the street are in a worse pickle than me and Paddington but I know what you mean.

As Roger says it is incredible none of the businesses/residents can assist
There is a DTC Mayors Business Forum today and I will raise it there as some Castle Street businesses attend.
As you know a small group (who incidently most of us do not live in Castle Street) ensure the hanging baskets are watered as it is the Castle Street Society (with the help of a financial contribution from DTC) that plant and look after the baskets in Castle Street.
Last year one morning we even had a resident complain as the previous day the volunteer had missed watering the basket outside his house. Even after mentioning it is volunteers and the Castle Street Society he was not interested in joining and certainly would not volunteer but expected the baskets to be cared for.
Sadly many businesses/residents do not even support the Castle Street Society by becoming members....It is this apathy that sadly prevails (not only in Dover) that needs to change.
Ian...I shall contact you on your phone to discuss re the flags.

funniest thing i have heard for a while, someone expecting a volunteer to water their plants.
hope he is not waiting for someone to come around and flush his toilet.

Our flag and flagpole were both nicked last year.

Pat
can you let us know the outcome of any discussions you have? It may be that my time is not required! Thanks.

My apologies to you all.
I have only just found out that the job has been done by contractors, so Brian was right and plenty of flags are flying.
I shall have to give DH a good slap next time I see him.
Thank you Pat and Mark.
