It's a shame that the port is being used as a political football. At the end of the day, DHB are trying to address some of the underlying problems associated with having a major port so close to the town. They are showing a positive path forward, and have explained the difficulties in raising finance as a public body. If the politicians know of a better way to fund the project, then let them present their ideas. It's no good simply opposing the issue, and not bringing forward any alternative ideas. DHB are probably right in their assertion that the development of T2 will unlock the wider regeneration of the town. Therefore, the interested parties need to sit down and talk sensibly about the proposals and how they could be funded.
