- 13 May 2010 09:0551603The dates of the forthcoming Port of Dover Consultative Committee meetings have been confirmed-giving members of the public the chance to hear the latest on plans for privatisation and redevelopment,and to grill Dover Harbour Board bosses.An open meeting will be held at the Ark in Tower Hamlets on May 24 at 6pm.
Please we must have agood turnout for this meeting and tell the D,H.B. our feelings on the sell off.I will be there but we need alot more support then we have had so please get up there on the above date and time.

to me they always seem a law unto themselves. - 13 May 2010 14:4251678Can't see why it is a bad thing.... DHB has it's hands tied, can't borrow money, and needs major investment. It isn't the small fishing port as it was 400 years ago and the Charter isn't really relevant.....Been nice knowing you :)
- 13 May 2010 18:1751717It's a shame that the port is being used as a political football. At the end of the day, DHB are trying to address some of the underlying problems associated with having a major port so close to the town. They are showing a positive path forward, and have explained the difficulties in raising finance as a public body. If the politicians know of a better way to fund the project, then let them present their ideas. It's no good simply opposing the issue, and not bringing forward any alternative ideas. DHB are probably right in their assertion that the development of T2 will unlock the wider regeneration of the town. Therefore, the interested parties need to sit down and talk sensibly about the proposals and how they could be funded.
- 13 May 2010 20:5651750Yes Kevin - at the Dover Society presentation a couple of weeks ago they presented the issues very well and it is the way forward. Bob Goldfield and the other guy seemed passionate about trying to work with the town and they said they would walk out of a deal if it couldn't benefit the town......Been nice knowing you :)
