Just the headlines about the meeting will do more tomorrow if you would like to hear about them
(1) The Taxi rank in Pencester outside cost cutters is to be moved down the rd,same side but near the fish and chip shop, and in it is place will go a loading bay.
(2) The gaps along the Dual carrageway on the Ramsgate road might be closed perment, the police are asking that all 3 be closed but we think only one will be closed, but the bus company are fighting to keep them open ,because as you know the bus can use them,if they are closed the company are saying this will add time to the bus geting to the parish,s along that road and that means less bus,s.
(3)Some night flights will take place at the Kent International Airport of Manston, they will be only cargo planes and will only happen about two times aweek, what is happing today is that some cargo planes heading for Manson from overseas are being held up on the runways where they take off and once they are on the runway there is no turning back they must take off,and if manson do not take that plane the trade would be lost. There is a public meeting at the airport tomorrow night at seven if you wish to go along, the cargo trade is what keeps the airport open there is beween 25000 and 30,000 tons of cargo going in there per year some of that is food. = there is to be a update of some of their Rad/equipment because of the windfarm blades are showing up on the equipment. thats all for now ,its late and I am off to bed.

Many thanks for all that Vic, very interesting.
Just to stick my oar in the manston debate for a minute. Its a shame that this terrific facility is hugely underused. It could bring prosperity and jobs but with people constantly objecting to every new development from windfarms to nuclear power its exasperating, the bunker mentality is holding us back. Nimbys to the left of us, Nimbys to the right...look at the massive campaign against development at Lydd..the against lobby have a lot of money, where is it coming from?
I appreciate we need to hold on to our traditional 'green and pleasant land aspect' but we must progress surely.

Too many NIMBYS in Thanet re the airport.
People forget that it is an airport and they brought a house near somewhere that is always in threat of redevelopment, and if they were already there they forget what it was like in the old RAF days !!
Been nice knowing you :)

I think it will happen and soon, they know that jobs are needed in the area and that is why it will go ahead.

Manston should be allowed to expand, it is in an area that badly needs the jobs especially with Pfizer going, certainly NIMBYism. The situation is a bit like those moving to the country and objecting to normal farming noises, smells and life.
Lydd is a slightly different matter with large new roads to be built and the power station very near, having said that I am not against it.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

i feel sorry for unmployed people in the vicinity of those two airports, expansion would mean direct jobs and spin offs.
as said above people know that they live near an airport when they move there, always a chance of expansion.

Is there not a far bigger picture here?
The loss of the high street and the growth of super-markets. The expectation of seeing the shelves full of out of season food-stuffs and the shying away from home grown produce.
Or, is this the Berlin air-lift? Are these 'vital' commodities and not the fruits of the Global exploitation of the growing-environment of poorer countries?
What might it be that cannot come by refrigerated road transport?
How small does our back-yard have to remain?
All of this in The Garden of England too.

Mr Austin it is not only about Cargo but also geting more of the public flying into East Kent and coming to the Towns and citys around East Kent that would mean more trade for our outlets ETC ,yes at this time it is about more cargo coming in but that is just a start,And just as Mr McSweeney and Mrs Higgins are saying just look at the 2000 jobs that would bring and that alone would bost trade to the outlets so it is awin win for this part of Kent.

Yes, thank you Mr. Matcham.
You make me feel like a school boy again. And yet...
Might we, regarding but a few inches of scroll-bar, compare and contrast...
"could bring up to 2000 jobs"
With...
"just look at the 2000 jobs that would bring"
"Where there is doubt...may we bring certainty..." You seem every bit the Thatcherite. Move over Barry.
