The reason I voted for Pebbles CIC to run the toilets is that they could have been open in a week or two,by going out to tender again the toilets will be shut this summer,but one of the Cllrs if the rumours are true who voted to keep the toilets shut to stop Cllr Sue Jones and others running it then called a Cllr on DDC and asked them if they could open them.They shut them in the first place,by getting the contractors to clean them and bill Dover Town Council.
Little problem there is the Dover Town Council by putting off the decision to Late September meeting cannot authorise any payment,and there is very little in the budget to get them cleaned the budget was set aside in case the building needed maintenance while empty.The reason why tenders were sought to run a toilet and commercial space was to get an income and because if they were unmanned then every druggy in Dover would be down there and up to no good.
What is strange is that a Cllr contacted DDC to get them open after he voted in fact to close them.
So if DDC think they can take all the plaudits for getting them open then I hope they have the money to clean and man them then perhaps they shouldn't have closed a lot of the toilets over the Christmas break a few years ago.
