Old Kent recipe to soothe coughs and colds...
Mix together:
1 dessertspoon lemon juice; 1 dessertspoon honey;
1 dessertspoon malt vinegar; 1 dessertspoon brandy;
add half cup of very hot water.
This is only to be SIPPED throughout the day........
(recipe was sent to me some years ago from Australia from a family who came from Kent and I find this excellent!)

Oh, sn-deary, sn-deary, sn-deary me
I've sn-gone and sn-caught a sn-cold you sn-see
I sn-stumble round the sn-house, bereft
of sn-honey I've but a sn-scrapping left
of sn-citrus fruit I've sn-none at all
sn-little wonder Mr. Cold sn-does call
oh glory, I have sn-now thought
no sn-vinegar, but wine I've sn-got
sn-there's Brandy too, of sn-that I'm sure
hot water also to make sn-that cure
oh Kath, sn-without you I'd sn-fade away
So sn-now, can I drive my bus today?

Thank you Kath. I shall make a note of recipe. I have had a barking cough over the past week and have been taking Pulmo Bailly which is not the most pleasant tasting of remedies.

The recipe I have always used, I should add with great pleasure, is....
Large tot of whiskey in a warm glass
Teaspoon of honey
Lemon juice
Hot water

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

A hot toddy usually has sugar round the rim of the glass instead of the honey in with the whiskey, very nearly as good as the medicinal tot.
The best cough mixture I have ever had was a herbal remedy I used to get from the Eastry chemist, sorry I can't remember the name.

Try Navy rum instead of whisky, very moreish.
