i had to read through the article to see whether i had imagined it.
kent police are making available a service where people can check whether anyone that works with children is a convicted sex offender.
this applies to teachers, youth workers and scout leaders in the main.
considering that all the above would have been c.r.b. checked before being employed it serves as much purpose as the law on pavement cycling.

Howard this is commonly known as Sarah's Law,after Sarah Payne that was murdered in Sussex,as I understand it,it was rolled out over southern England last year, and Kent this year but only a handful of people have shown up working with Children.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

as i understand it two very different things john, the one you mention is about parents knowing if a perv lives down the road.
the initiative i refer to just relates to people working with children.
the database would show the same information to potential employers as to parents so completely pointless.

what you appear to be saying is that at the present time there could be sex offenders working with children after being cleared to by the police.
Sadly there probably are Howard id have all sex offenders shot .

The danger in my mind is from offenders who have never yet been caught and are therefore not on police radar. In such cases CRB clearances are worthless yet give parents and employers a false sense of security.

Quite. The number of offenders who get caught first time out is vanishingly small so it is probable that a good many make it their lifetime's hobby without ever having their collar felt.
