Can remember my dad buying a s/h vauxhall viva 1966 model from Alan Thompson when he had a garage opposite the police station in ladywell,that was back in the early 70s and i think the garage is now a cafe.He also mentioned that years before then Alan Thompson was a driving instructor who he had driving lessons with.

Great man Alan. Also had garage in Cherry Tree where Aldi is now. ? Last Ford dealership in Dover.

i think he passed away a few years but i,m sure his wife is still alive.

I can also remember going to the auction at his garage in cherry tree when he sold up,must have been a couple of years before Aldi was built.It was run by Hobbs Parker auctioneers from Ashford and everything in the garage and workshops was in the sale.It attracted hundreds of people and my mate brought quite abit of equipment from the sale including the spray booth which had to be completly dismantled before we could remove it.
