I had a good laugh Bern....
Lord Stansgate is an old fraud who could get Labour pulses racing but his arguments were so full of holes....

Glad to see he never really forsook his old Establishment roots. Educated privately, the former Viscount Stansgate now lives in a £750,000 flat in London and a coastal property in Suffolk. Good for him, he earned it. Or did he?

benn was one of the great debaters in a time that the commons welcomed them.
now we have dave and ed, after the lord mayors show or what?
sorry to see the politics of envy from our true blues barry and peter, breeding and success is not to be sneered at.
I thought it would raise a smile, though......

stuck to his guns through thick and thin, never played the prima donna.
i remember his son being interviewed, hilary remembers his dad telling him to stick to his beliefs(whatever they were) and never waver.
doesn't sit comfortably withn many of today's time servers and careerists.

I don't think he was a great debater because as I said his arguments rarely stood up to detailed examination, but he certainly was an entertaining speaker. I do agree that we need more like him in the Commons along with other 'characters', such as Enoch Powell. the Commons is too bland these days, too pc and too much worrying over whether they will offend!
