So in the past we've had nuclear Armageddon following a nuclear winter resulting from an exchange of missiles from East to West and back again.
We've had global cooling which was popular in the seventies where the world was about to freeze.
Before that we've had other outbreaks of mass panic by the worried well of the world which caught hold and then simply vanished without trace except for a few hardened followers.
The next one which we all know of is the forthcoming end of days sometime in December which will, of course, turn out to be a damp squib and we'll find that the date was wrong and the world will come to an end in ten years time.
No what I would like to know is how the next mass panic will manifest itself. Will it be something to do with the poles reversing or a worry about tectonic plate movement, volcanoes, asteroids, something paranormal?
Now that the global warming scare has reached it's peak something has to fill the void.
Who will start the rumour? Will it come from a small clique of scientists with a seemingly far-fetched theory (think climate change) or from somewhere more unexpected? - 27 November 2012 01:11203286OK, Philip. Let's wait till December 23rd for starters.
There was the year 1000, and apparently, so the saying goes, some rich people gave their wealth away to the poor, in sign of repentance, only to repent on 1st January 1001.
There is a chance the vaster part of the Tories may pass to UKIP by December 2012 in sign of repentance for Britain's lost sovereignty.
If, per chance, the Christmas lights are on again on the 23rd, counting all 24 time zones, and Chancellor Osborne has resigned, we might see some light for the future. Hopefully the nightmare will be over.
Once this is completed, and Greece has received a bailout, then Spain will come forward for a bailout, followed by Italy.
It is generally believed that when Italy comes forth for a bailout, the EU will rip through the bottom, Italy might just manage to achieve it! The Earth might sway a little to the left and to the right, compasses may invert N/S and back again, and the end of.... an era will come.
One thing is for sure in my estimates, Osborne Chancellor won't be Chancellor for long, there'll be a Cabinet reshuffle, and this time they'll try not to bring up a pair of jokers!
that will solve our problems and bring Austerity to an end.
