Alexander why let the facts get in the way of the story eh

Bradley Manning (in your words "the freak who leaked the info") received no payment for the information, in fact whilst Wikileaks promised to collect donations for his legal fund once he was arrested they have not yet donated a penny. Manning was "given" up to the US authorities by a convicted former hacker, it appears because Manning refused to route the information he had stolen through that hacker.

The people doing these things are no more or less freaky than you Alexander, they have a different world view than you, a very dim view of democracy and the political apparatus and a different set of tools to tackle what they see as abuses of power, both by the state and by global corporations. In this case Visa, Mastercard and PAyPal all caved in to pressure from the US State Department to freeze payment services and accounts, despite no warants or court orders have been obtained in a US court, suggesting that the US authorities are struggling to find a criminal case that will stand up in a US court.

For your information there is no overarching UK privacy law - various acts confer some form of privacy over some of your information and property, however thay all have clauses allowing the state to gather and review that information where it is deemed necessary to do so. So who do you trust now?
