  Alex, as one example, when Wilson was PM America wanted us to join them in Vietnam or they would not prop-up the pound. Wilson chose to stay out of Vietnam and devalue the pound - bluff called. Since then they have dragged us into every war they fought and yet stayed out of any involvement in the Falklands.
  
  Howard, I quite agree. There is no quicker way of attempting to destroy a reputation than accusations of sexual misbehaviour as the press linger over the supposed details and rarely publish any retractions or apologies should the accused be found in innocent.
