I am not for or against any of the council just that I have gone and that is that, but will just say this. The town council did need a new car and for the first time a truck for the handyman when I was on the town council years ago I asked that the handyman have one but it was voted out. What some of you do not know is the work the handyman does part of his job is to go round all the allotments and there are over 200 of them dotted around Dover on about 8 sites. I was given the job of alloments officer a job I loved doing.,anyway it is the job of the handy man to keep all the footpaths clear of weeds and open for the pubic to use 24/7 in my day he had to take the tools needed around in his own car and in the end just to many tools to take in one go so time was taken going back and forward to get what he needed + he could not take away bags of weeds etc they also own the hills etc which he needs to get to at times so a fourwheeled one was and is needed even some of the alloments are off rd and you can not get a car to them and then we have the bad weather to add to this.
Now it is also true their car was very old and there is a good point that they needed a new one and saying that the head of the council could use any car is not true, that person has to go to alot of meetings in front of the public meet up with high army officers and leaders so the car and that needs to look the part like all the other councils cars .I am talking about the town council not the D.D.C.Will just add that the DTC choice of the town clark was not a good one that person is not liked by the public or alot of the cllrs themselfs, it would cost the council alot of cash to get rid of that person now,but that is what they need to do pay the person off and I think they need not get a new person for that job which in time would be a big saving, one of the staff already plays that roll when the town clerk is not there. This is my views only so no need to go of on one, but they are facts again I am not a support of the town council but the rolls of the car and truck were needed.
