I find myself saying this year after year but they are the best,"Who am I talking about" Well it is the staff of the D.D.C. Election office,They are the most helpfull staff you could find, and hard workers is puting it mild.
I would like to thank them all for what they do.
I can tell you all that Dover have the very best, not many councils put in the work like they do if any.
They should get a reward,so Mr Watkins if you see this post think on. Thank you.

never had the need to contact them, generally i find the council officers very helpful.
the only problems i have had was with the fictional anti social behaviour unit and trying to pay council tax over the phone or on-line.
that would be down to systems not the staff though.

do they still have a problem with people paying parking fines?
about a year ago a friend of mine tried by phone and online without success, she ended up having to drive from thanet to whitfield as the fine was about to increase and she did not trust the post.

BTW
I had my voting card hand delivered here in LB Hackney last week.
As I recall there was something of a kerfuffle here and elsewhere around the country about polling station closure and missed votes.
I have wondered since what might be done to improve matters and note one sentence on the card that addresses this issue.
"You cannot be issued with a ballot paper after 10pm, even if you are at the polling station before then."
You are probably correct in what you say Vic, polling STAFF are hard working and committed to delivering on the tacit promise of bringing democracy to the people, but those in charge don't seem to see any need to accommodate the electorate and settle for further instruction.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I too have found the staff at DDC very courteous and extremely friendly. I have dealt with them regarding voting by proxy for my girls who are back at Uni on voting day. Sad to say that it is a rarity these days to be treated with common courtesy.

Do these well thanked democratic services staff at the DDC receive pay for their work? or is it voluntary?

Yes Marek they are paid and they are, certainly in my own experience friendly and helpful. This cannot be said for all the paid shop staff or other paid employees you have to deal with so it is worth mentioning.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
