The link in Andrews post above is well worth reading as I believe Dover experienced something different last night...a shelf cloud. This cloud for just a short period of maybe 50 - 60 seconds brought very violent winds in its wake. It blew Shakespeare beach into mid air...I initially thought there was a fire with billowing smoke. A strange phenomenon. Because of the brief severity, pictures of the shelf cloud were hard to get once it got going..it was also quite dark and with strange colour so this was the best I could muster of the shelf cloud.
There is also another picture on the Sea News page after some of it had passed over. The lightning still hadn't begun .
ps: if you click on the picture above it will show it a tad larger.
