Plans for a theme park in the Thames Estuary to rival Disneyland Paris have been unveiled.
The £2bn development scheme for the Swanscombe Peninsula is set to be built on the brownfield site of what was once Europe's largest cement works.
After the huge success of the Olympic's Opening and Closing Ceremonies, this should hold no fear..
The 872 acre, site which is derelict and disused will provide 27.000.00 jobs, and is based close to Ebsfleet Station.
I feel this is awesome, but no doubt will have its detractors and oooohs and aaaaahs...
There is a big article in the Daily Mail today about it all...

From what I have heard it seems a good idea, I wish them luck.

So good of them to give prospective employment figures to two decimal places.
There is no getting away from it though, with the expansion of zero-hour employment contracts it would be far better to give estimates of full-time and part-time opportunities.
and, just so I don't feel the need to return with yet another reality check...
Perhaps vouchers for the rides could be given out with the food stamps?

Why is the emphasis always on the need for full time employment there has always been a need for the part-time job especially for those with children. Any job is better than none for those seeking work.

Well why don't the employees opt for the HM government's useless 'shares in the firm you work for' scheme. Could be quite a distraction from reality with this exciting project.
Never give up...

Apparently you sacrifice your worker's rights in exchange for shares in the company-yeah right! When you get the sack for any old vexatious reason-you have to give the shares back of course !
Never give up...

Yes Jan.
It is good to know, just the same, that I am not the most put-upon man around. A friend of mine got into trouble with his better half by doing just what she asked of him...
-"Dearest, you have a special birthday coming up, is there anything particular you would like to get as a present?"
-"Oh well, I don't know...something with diamonds maybe?"
And here he is on the 'happy' day itself, complaining to me.
He had bought her a pack of playing cards.
BTW
I did presage my comments with mention of zero-hour contracts. Would there not have been a clear advantage in talking about 54,000 Part-Time jobs? (i.e. 20 hours or so)
What if all the jobs turned out to be ZHC? Would it count as one job each time a person got up and served someone a coffee, only then to sit idle once more?
It's acres and acres of a site, why not just be up-front about the 'real' employment prospects?
