They propbably get fairly cosy open prison places but we have seen a number go inside over the years including Jeffrey Archer and Jonathan Aitkin..however in both their cases it was a good career move as both are making money out of their recollections.
But yes while I agree prison places should be primarily for violent criminals there are many other crimes where incarceration is appropriate. Some of these MP swindling cases have been outrageous in their arrogance and most showing utter contempt for the people who put them in high public office.
Besides an MP working for charity in a high st near you would be no hardship at all...they would probably enjoy the limelight. People at large are outraged by the stealing that went on...one needs only to tune in to the BBC's Question Time to see it. So prison looks the realistic option.
