Scrap metal thieves have desecrated a memorial put up to remember a group of soldiers who died in World War Two, including of The Few.Officers believe the only reason it was targeted was because it was made from brass. It was engraved with the names of the dead men, who were from River, near Dover.
The thieves removed it from the grounds of the parish church of St Peter and St Paul.
Rev Andy Bawtree said the thieves seem to have completely ignored what the plaque symbolised and how important it was to residents. He said: "This is nothing like the usual lead from a church roof being taken. This was something that made the loss of those men something personal to the village.

Utter disgrace. I could go an a diatribe about the values of many in society, but it seems pointless; we all know what society's low-lifes are capable of.

there was a raid on a crematorium garden in kent a while back.
all the metal plaques were uscrewed or prised off of the walls, the cash value is minimal in comparison to the upset it causes to the relatives of the deceased.
And when they are found a good kicking by every one in river or let Jan have them.
