The post you are reporting:
Colin, it is interesting what you write concerning teaching and preaching, as there may be a difference, but to preach ultimately means to talk with conviction hence to teach, and Christianity requires the teaching-preaching of the Holy Scriptures and the Message of Jesus Christ.
As for Chris' views on the thread, they are misleading, and assume that Christian people who have lived by the Faith, and also those many Christians who died in the Faith for refusing to renounce their convictions, are al one and the same as the people who burned their victims at the steak or killed lthem in the streets in the name of Vatican inquisition and crusades. Such view can only be contradictory and unfair, so Chris and Rick really should post their comments on aliens on some other thread, and Chris, when commenting about Christian history, could actually read some books and inform himself better.
Colin, if you read some books on Celtic Christianity in Britain, you might discover how Christian love animated so many people, both those who preached and those who listened! In those days, there were no beliefs in aliens, and no spiritual love has ever come from aliens!
In the 12th century, the Vatican finally took over the Celtic Churches in the British Isles, and things changed. Persecution and the banning of the Holy Scriptures (yes the Catholic Church forbade people to possess or read the Scriptures) began in England in the 14th century by order of the pope, and many followers of John Wycliff (Lollards) stood up bvravely to the flames rather than renounce their right to read the Scriptures and communicate their faith to others!
In the same way as they did, so too do I tell Chris and Rick not to interfere with peoples' rights to learn and communicate the Holy Scriptures!
First it starts with burning books, then people are burned!
Or, as the Catholic church did it, with banning the Bible and then burning people for reading it!
