    Colin does have a point in that, while society adapts to changing knowledge and circumstances, religion claims to hold the unchangable truth from its beginnings. If they do not hold the absolute truth and are subject to change in the details where does that stop; can they alter the basis of their gods as new knowledge becomes known?
