I have noticed before, on other threads, that people get very steamed up about Britain having to keep apologising for things like their involvement in the slave trade, and oppression of aboriginals. I am unclear why any group has to continue apologising for things that happened before they were even thought of, never mind born. There are some clear exceptions: nazism for example, has always stood for a collection of oppressive and violent drivers and has never apologised for that, rather has celebrated it. That is different. There is no doubt that many religions (not faiths, and there is a difference) have harboured unpleasant characters and events, people who have sought refuge and validation in a group. That is not representative of all in the group, and intelligent thinking around it would soon expose that.

I wonder how it would seem if I said I hate all white men because I suffered abuse at the hands of one. Or because they conquered huge tracts of the world and did it by violence and coercion. Or because they held the most money and power. or because they smelled, or spat, or whatever.
