I was tempted by the blackberries growing on the derelict bit of land near the top of Albert Road but they were too near the pavement to risk it . English apples are ready as well about a month earlier than usual.

Jan I saw that report and the growers were asked if the apples were still sweet enough and would they last the season. It was a resounding Yes to both questions. I've recently become a fruitaholic but refuse to pay £9 for a full red water melon.

I have lovely happy memories of blackberry hunting (for those under the age of 18 that is a berry fruit and not an electronic device for communicating) in Ireland, and my Old Man making the most fabulous ice cream with the result. Happy days........
