  I was tempted by the blackberries growing on the derelict bit of land near the top of Albert Road but they were too near the pavement to risk it . English apples are ready as well about a month earlier than usual.

  About 10 - 20% are ripe Marek, loads of green berries waiting for the sun!

  Must go hunting in the berry bushes here as the season starts slightly earlier. Thanks for the ''heads up'' Terry as my sons would say.
  
  Jan I saw that report and the growers were asked if the apples were still sweet enough and would they last the season. It was a resounding Yes to both questions. I've recently become a fruitaholic but refuse to pay £9 for a full red water melon.

  I have lovely happy memories of blackberry hunting (for those under the age of 18 that is a berry fruit and not an electronic device for communicating) in Ireland, and my Old Man making the most fabulous ice cream with the result. Happy days........
