The Sun, Mike Webb, and that Status Quo story...

  Following a chat at the Christmas Party the other night with Mike Webb we have the following for your perusal....
  
  
  The Sun following discussions with Mike has agreed to make a series of goodwill gestures to the people of Dover. It has published Mike Webbs letter- see below - and among other things has agreed to contribute £500 towards the Mayors Goodwill Fund. It has already withdrawn all reference to the phoney Franci Rossi story from its website.
  
  
  Mike Webb said..
  "The turning around of this negative story has been a difficult and time-consuming process. However, it was very necessary, given this Council's good work, and the image-damage suffered by our town. I can only question the motive of the person responsible for taking this inaccurate non-story to a national paper, in the first place.
  
  Other benefits include the good publicity surrounding my invitation and that of DCAL to meet Francis Rossi."
  
  
  Copy below of the letter in The Sun on friday.
  
  Further to your numerous articles about Dover Town Council and a man posing as Status Quo's Francis Rossi, I would like to make clear Dover Town Council has not spent any money on this matter, no Council decision has been made as the Council has not been involved and there has been no unauthorised use of the Mayoral car.

  Although the above would look to all of us more or less like the end of the matter. Vic has put up a posting in the past few hours suggesting yet again that there is much more to come....

  I was at a event last weekend with my wife when a well know person came to my table and was very unpleasant most of the public there did over hear it all going on and for the very first time about all this I was geting angry.

  The reader can make up his or her own mind if there is anything further to come on this. Vic seems to thinks so..but so far hasnt delivered on the hints.

  Thank you for that Paul, and i am sorry to say there is lots more of this story to come, I have let most of it go over my head but at some point I have to stand up and put the story right and that time has now been reached.
  i do not tell lies so the story will be told by me but first I do not wish to put it on this forum if you or the members do not think that I should and most of it will not come till the new year.

  But again the story Mr Webb is saying will not be the same as mine, first again i am telling you the D.T.C. car was used to pick up Mr Tumber but only to DOVER but most times we did use our own cars, agai I must say I did not see Mr Tumber geting in or out of the D.T.C.car but it was used only avery few times.

  Bern you are right in what you are saying Have no wish to keep this going myself that is why I am saying to Paul yes I will tell the story only if the members wish that or not.
  To you Roger you must make up your own mind if you think I am or not telling a true story.

  For Gods sake, how many people have to ask for the darn story? I am so uninterested I would have to be comatose to be less interested, but clearly others are and have asked repeatedly - equallly boring - so get it over with, please.

  First may I say that I echo what you have said - I too am sick to death of this "story".
  
  Secondly Bern I would like to wish you a very happy Christmas and a happy and healthy new year. I know we don't always see eye to eye and I know I annoy you sometimes but hey - that's what the forum is about. At the end of the day we are all entitled to a viewpoint and I do admire your diplomacy in a lot of instances. So I hope you enjoy your festive season and that we can agree - or disagree (lol) in 2009.

  Just to had to this mywife and myself are now booked in to see Status Quo in the new year last time we saw them they were playing with Queen and Big country a great day out I know it will be the same this time, if we can will stay in a hotel overnight but must find someone to look after the dog. I am going to aske Mr Tumber along to that
