When I was young, many moons ago,I used to help cut and deliver firewood around Dover’s outlying villages. This was in the 80’s.As we were delivering to farm between Shepardswell and Coldred I saw an old clinker built tender or lifeboat in one of the fields holding horse feed.I asked the farmer what it was doing there ?He told me it had ‘come from the Scharnhorst’.How true that statement was I will never know, but I found it one of those Dover area intriguing historical mysteries.

Thank you for that interesting memory. As you say, an intriguing mystery.
