Just announced on the news that one of the heroes of our time Nelson Mandela aged 95 has died.
He inspired many people, and changed many peoples lives.

I will never forget his walk to freedom, I watched with tears in my eyes. Mandela you truly deserve to rest in peace.

daily mirror today realy going going for maggie and tories of her time
who when mandela was being released she was still saying he was a terrorist
tebbitt still holds this view today

It all depends on what side of the fence you are. To the South African government of the time (Vorster and Botha), he was a terrorist, to the general black populace, he was a freedom fighter.
Maggie didn't introduce sanctions beccause it would have been the ordinary african who would have suffered most.
Interrnational pressure and F. W. De Klerk brought freedom to Nelson Mandela and the majority of South Africans. Nelson Mandela held out for justice for all - and rightly so.
As I said above, those following him are disregarding his legacy of fairness for all. If there was less corruption, I'm sure there would be more inward investment and that would be the best way to get the people out of poverty.
